How to: Free up hard disk space by deleting .TMP files.
Solution:
Select and delete all the .tmp files in the Windows\Temp folder.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Find' and select 'Files and Folders...'. (The 'Find: All Files' dialog box appears.)
3) Type the following in the 'Named' drop-down list box:
*.TMP
4) Click 'Find Now'. (All .tmp files located in the local drive appear in the find results window.)
5) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Select All'. (All files with the .tmp extension are highlighted.)
NOTE 1: If there are some .tmp files that you do not want to delete, examine the list of selected files, press and hold down CTRL, and select the file(s) you do NOT want to delete. (Just those file(s) are unselected.)
NOTE 2: You can restore accidentally deleted files from the Recycle Bin.
6) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Delete'. (The 'Confirm Multiple File Delete' dialog box appears.)
7) Click 'Yes' to delete the files.
8) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close' to close the 'Find' dialog box.
